The length of the exam varies and depends on the size of your container, the commodity and how it was loaded. Floor loads will take longer than palletized freight. To include loading and unloading, the exam can range from four hours to forty-eight hours.
Due to security issues, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) does not provide our company with information regarding as to why a particular container is being examined. Your broker/shipper should have properly advised you that in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security, your container has the possibilities of being selected for an intensive exam.
The line order indicates where your container is in line to be inspected and how many containers are ahead of you to be inspected. Containers are inspected in the order which they arrive at our facility
Example: If you are number 25 in line, then there are 24 other containers ahead of you to be examined.
On the norm, containers are examined in the order which they arrive at our facility. There are exceptions to this rule. Refrigerated units and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) containers have head-of-the-line privileges.
If you would like more information on the C-TPAT program or submit an application to be C-TPAT certified, you can go to our links page and click on the Customs and Border Protection link and type in “C-TPAT” in the search block.
Once the exam is completed and we receive all documents (warehouse paperwork, delivery order, etc.) we will email an invoice.
The quickest payment method to release cargo is via PayCargo or CargoSprint.
When a container is required to be returned to the pier or taken to the rail, we need to include the return drayage on our invoice. Therefore, a delivery order is necessary to calculate accurate charges.
As a policy, we dispatch all containers on our premises. Once we have received all necessary releases and monies, we will contact your trucker (provided on delivery order).
We ask that you please refrain from dispatching your own trucker. He will be turned away. Due to security issues, we are required to provide all necessary documentation to the gate guard for incoming / outgoing traffic. Once our dispatcher contacts your trucker, we will forward necessary paperwork to the gate guard to allow your trucker to enter our premises.
The first three (3) business days after the examination of cargo are free.
Storage rate for dry containers are as follows:
$ 90.00 per calendar day for the first ten (10) days per container
$175.00 per calendar day for each additional day per container
The hook-up fee for a reefer unit is $ 297.00 per day .
Unless your cargo is on customs (or other government agency) hold, the answer is no. We are solely a customs exam warehouse. You can contact our office and we will be happy to assist you with names and numbers of local warehousing facilities.
